I've started making a Glee all-the-songs type video for all the episodes that weren't included in that fantastic video that Joe made (which I believe covered the initial first season). Good LORD, I guess they must have started including a lot more music. The first part of season 1 took up 1 and a half hours of music. The second half has 6 hours. I'm a little over halfway through with season 2 and it's at 5 hours. edit: in retrospect, it looks like some videos were adding themselves more than once! That may explain the bizarre length! | | Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 | | 12:51 pm |

TECH WOES (Intermittent Wireless Connection)
Ugh. Parents' internet. If anyone can offer any help, I will reap rewards at your feet. Our house uses cable internet (AT&T) with a 2WIRE router with wireless capabilities. Our wireless network is secured with a password. We have four wireless devices in the house (2 laptops, 1 PC, 1 iPhone). The laptops and PCs have Windows 7. The wireless devices have been able to connect consistently and strongly to other wireless networks. However, for the network in our house, devices that try to use the wireless network get wildly intermittent speeds, ranging from 700 kb/s to 0 kb/s download speeds. Sometimes a device will just stop being able to access the wireless for some time, and later on will be able to access it again. Sometimes connection success will vary over a period of 5 minutes. The wired network is working just fine, and computer connected directly to the router get reliable performance. We've rebooted the machines, router, and wireless adapters. The laptops and iPhone have been able to connect very consistently with other wireless networks, but this one causes them to run into trouble. We've talked to AT&T, but they seem about stumped. They sent a technician over who observed that we had the router in a good spot with limited interference from other electronics. They've fiddled with the internal router settings, restored it to factory defaults, and have tried replacing the router entirely with a new one, but to no luck. We should be able to support 8 different wireless connections at one time, and I've also tried resetting the router and not having some of the machines connect, but still no luck on the ones that are connecting. There was one bizarre moment where I watched the iPhone lose its ability to connect and one laptop then gained it...but that seems like coincidence rather than them trading. At the moment, I'm looking for other things to potentially try, as our final option seems picking a different wireless service and giving that a shot (ugh) | | Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 | | 9:43 pm |
CLOTHES
So, there was this beautiful cardigan I had my eye on for quite some time that finally went on sale and I nabbed it. Arrived in the mail today, and I kind of love it. It's certainly not something I can wear with everything, but my goodness it's unique. Other views Also, Travis saw this kind of amazing Pendleton coat in a vintage store. It matched a bit of both of our tastes (his love of Southwestern style, my love of colors, our mutual love of outerwear), and also fit us both. Thus, it became a mutual Christmas present. Although it's kind of funny how different it looks on both of us. Travis then felt the need for the two of us to pose all 'Brokeback' style with my other Pendleton jacket (used to be owned by my dad and is huge on me). | | Monday, December 6th, 2010 | | 11:24 am |

I think I'm up for trying this again! It sounds like a lot of things have changed quite a bit. I think I might try my Elven Druid again to see how much things have changed. | | Friday, November 19th, 2010 | | 9:52 am |

Me: I want to get work done. Computer: lol, no
Originally, I had a couple hard drives in my computer, the boot drive being brand WDC (WD-WCASU452955) and connected to my computer via a SATA cable. This is all on my ASUS M2N-E motherboard. Everything had been working perfectly fine for about a year, then one day the computer said it was having trouble booting up. I tried loading the recovery console and found that the computer could see all the drives except for the boot drive. At that time, I didn't test the SATA connection (because it didn't occur to me), and instead I tried testing a bunch of different things, to no real avail. The strange thing was, sometimes the drive would show up again, and then it would vanish away again. After some time, I purchased a Seagate hard drive (ST31000528AS), plugged that in (also to a SATA connection), and made that my new boot drive. Suddenly, I could see the old drive again. I formatted the old drive, and all seemed to be going well again. Today, the computer stopped seeing the Seagate drive. I feel the drive spinning, but nothing has gotten it to show up. I installed Windows back on the old drive (that previously was having SATA troubles). I tried testing the SATA/power cords for the Seagate (by connecting them to the WDC and found they all worked fine. Does anyone have any idea what's up? I believe I'm updated to most of the current drives for the M2N-E. | | Sunday, September 12th, 2010 | | 1:40 am |
Lately I've been reading a lot of the Query Shark website ( http://queryshark.blogspot.com ), and it's gotten me in a mood to start writing again. In reading over people coming up with stories, writing them, and wanting them to be read, it reminded me of the pleasure I used to have when writing. I didn't do much of it, mostly some various small attempts in high school and a little creative writing in undergrad. That feels like such a dumb thing to say, and honestly I feel a little abashed at the whole thing. I find myself very much *not* wanting to be one of those people with the moon in their eyes, sighing wistfully, and saying, "I want to be a ~*~writer~*~." I very much dislike feeling as though I'm being pretentious. ...but I'd like to try and start doing it again. I like stories, and I like telling them. | | Friday, September 10th, 2010 | | 2:50 pm |

Discovered a new musician
Cee Lo Green, with his song "F**K YOU" Emily pointed it out, and I gotta admit, his attitude kind of reminds me of a black, heavier version of Bob. I am remarkably fond of a song that focuses on a bit of profanity. There's something wonderful and delightful in the slightly juvenile feeling of it. Along those lines, Lily Allen did a song also called "Fuck You!" that was co-opted by the LGBT community. | | Sunday, August 22nd, 2010 | | 4:18 pm |
